Ensign Feb 1868 (37th Foot), Lieutenant Nov 1870. Afghan war including Arzu and clasps. Captain Feb 1880. Retired 1899 and bought an estate at Mashobra in the Simla hills. WWI returned to England to help train troops, including a visit to France. Colonel 15th Sikhs 1913.
Family:
Fourth son of Major-General Augustus Abbott, Bengal Artillery. Siblings: Augustus Keith Abbott (also in Afghan war), Major-General William Henry Abbott (1st Royal Munster Fusiliers), Wife possibly Isabella Agnes Laing (confirmation required).
