Fourth son of Major-General Augustus Abbott, Bengal Artillery. Siblings: Augustus Keith Abbott (also in Afghan war), Major-General William Henry Abbott (1st Royal Munster Fusiliers), Wife possibly Isabella Agnes Laing (confirmation required).
