Parents: Robert Hill Pinhey, Puisne Judge of the High Court of Bombay (d.1896) and Mary Anne Pellew (1828-1910). Siblings: Edward (1855), Emily (1857), Lieutenant Colonel Sir Alexander Fleetwood Pinhey C.I.E. (1861-1916), Arthur Francis (1863), Mary Georgina (1868), Henry Pellew Douglas (1872), Charles Codrington (1872). Possibly uncle served in First Afghan War (Ghuznee medal). Married Agnes Uric Ingram 1888, India
