Contact information

I would be delighted to hear from you whether you are contributing information to the database or the website, or seeking information of any kind relating to the Second Anglo-Afghan War.

Faster response (usually!)

| Roots Chat forum thread | Victorian Wars forum | Second Afghan War discussion list |

If you have a query about a man who served (or may have served) in the Second Afghan War, you may get a faster reply if you post at either my Roots Chat forum thread or at the Victorian Wars forum. This has the benefit of other knowledgeable people helping out as well. There is also the Second Afghan War discussion list. I would request that you don't post the same question on all forums simultaneously.

Direct email

If you would prefer to email me directly with your enquiry, please note that I mainly use email for work-related communication, plus my email often builds up quite considerably, sometimes resulting in a long delay. I will, however, always get round to answering eventually!

Contributing data

Please consider contributing biographical data to the very worthwhile Afghan War Database Project if you are able to, it is only possible with the generosity of fellow researchers and family historians. I'm also always interested in contemporary diary extracts and letters from those who saw service in the campaign.

Donations

You may also be like to consider a donation, but there is absolutely no obligation. Donations will result in a full research pack, if requested (depending on what I have available), including regiment's war service, as well as any relevant maps and images. Queries with no donation will also get my full attention, but answers will be as brief as possible due to time considerations - but all emails are just as important to me as my aim is to help and share information with whoever requests it. I'm afraid that I am unable to carry out research on bahelf of others at Kew or the India Office Library.

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch.
