Shiromatsu no kun (white pine staff form)
aka: Shiromatsu no kun ni, Shiramachi nu kun, Hakusho no kon, Ruybi no kon
The first bo kata taught within the Shotokan Karate-do Kenkyujo. Techniques include shomen-uchi, uchi-uke and the characteristic sliding-hand exchange, as well as the 'paddling' multiple strikes to disarm and strike an opponent who defends using bo age-uke.
History
Bo kata handed down through the Matsubayashi karate school, with the version we practice tweaked with Yamanne Ryu principles, where it is sometimes referred to as Ruybi no kun.~ GE
