Gosoku (hard fast method)
This form is representaive of Takayuki Kubota Soke's style which has the same name, Gosoku Ryu. It contains a wonderful mix of strong, direct techniques alongside flowing, circular movements, combining the two into a great fighting kata. Significant in the kata is the gosoku-uke, five blocks in one, a rapid sequence of four punches, and the ura-mae-geri.
History
Takayuki Kubota created more than 30 kata over a number of decades, from the 1950s onwards, to compliment the range of Shotokan kata he also taught in Gosoku Ryu. Gosoku kata is one of the school's older intermediate forms for black belt level. The kata is practised at Kanzenki as a reminder of Kubota Soke's teachings. ~ GE| < Unsu | back to main kata page | Tensho > |
