Kanku Sho (to look to the sky, minor version)
aka: Kusanku Sho
This kata poses some interesting technical challanges to the practitioner, not least of which are two jumps - one recalling the twist into shuto uke from Enpi, and another that introduces a jumping mikazuki geri (sometimes incorporating ushiro geri) similar to that seen in the advanced kata Unsu.
History
Kusanku Sho was probably created by Yasutsune Itosu as a sibling kata to the older Kusanku (Kanku Dai). See a longer article on the kata here. ~ GE| < Jiin | back to main kata page | Bassai Sho > |
