A carpenter when he enlisted with the Royal Artillery Sep 1859. Acting Bombadier Aug 1868, Bombadier Jun 1870, Corporal Jan 1873, Sergeant Aug 1876. Afghan War with 8/11 RA and assigned to siege train with 13/8 RA towards Kandahar from Sukkur (stopped when news of Kandahar taken). Served just over 21 years and discharged Bombay (9/10 RA) Jan 1881. Jul 1887 awarded Chelsea pension. Other service numbers throughout service include 619, 1990, 4768, 5920 and 3993. | ||
